Morlon Dwight Winston, 54, of Lower Paxton will serve at least 12 and up to 24 years in a State Correctional Institution followed by 3 years of probation, as well as registering as a sexual offender for the remainder of his life.
He was found guilty by a Dauphin County jury in March for the following;
- F1 Rape Forcible Compulsion Held for Court
- F1 Rape Unconscious Victim Held for Court
- F1 Sexual Assault Held for Court
- F2 Strangulation - Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck convicted
The charges arose from an incident on Oct. 10, 2018, at the defendant’s home in Lower Paxton Township.
The assault started with an argument over the victim talking to another man on the telephone.
During the argument, Winston twice strangled the victim to the point of unconsciousness, according to a previously released statement by the Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo.
At the sentencing, Judge McNally noted the haunting details of the violent assault.
Specifically, the defendant’s request that the victim remove her glasses so that they would not be broken during the violent assault.
The arrest, evidence gathering and work of both the lead investigator, Detective Dan Smeck of the Lower Paxton Township Police Department, and the prosecutor, Deputy District Attorney Katie L. Adam was key in the conviction. District Attorney Chardo, praised them for their work in this case.
